SARICA (perm. reg.)

American Cocker Spaniels

I have been selectively breeding quality American Cocker Spaniels for nearly thirty years and have been the proud owner and breeder of some of Canada's outstanding cockers. Sarica is the home of Best in Show Winners, Best Puppy in Show Winners, multi group winners and placers.

Please continue on throughout the website - watch it grow - and take a peek at some of the cockers that have made Sarica what it is today, and what it has been known by in the years gone by.

This is a link to an online learning environment where students who use discoveragenda can enhance their skills of success including: organizational skills, academic skills and life skills. Different activities, articles inspiration and more are provided for students each week and correlate directly with the monthly In Focus pages of the discoveragenda.

THANK YOU TO ALL PARENTS for continuing to keep up this daily source of communication between the school and home.

How Can I Help My Child With Reading?

Please come and view some of our writing samples as they are linked throughout the year.

Parents, please read and discuss the monthly curriculum letter and highlights, which are sent home the beginning of each month, with your son/daughter. Any curriculum related links will be posted on this page.

On the first day of school, the class and I discuss the five components of the Community Agreements (based upon TRIBES - a program that breaks down the barriers between students and builds a sense of belonging)

MUTUAL RESPECT

APPRECIATION

NO PUT DOWNS

ATTENTIVE LISTENING

RIGHT TO PASS.

We prepared and print out a set of "Let's Pull Together" expectations:

1. Be co-operative with everyone.

2. Ask permission to leave the room.

3. Always do the best that you can.

4. Raise your hand to speak.

These components and expectations are emphasized in all activities in the classroom, as well as in our daily Community Times. It is believed that when students feel that they belong, they do better academically and will be less likely to get into trouble.

Students who behave in the "pulling together" manner will be positively rewarded with praise, free time, stickers, awards and notes home. Students who choose not to follow these expectations will be required to lose recesses, to write out the expectations and to discuss ways in which they can work in a co-operative manner. A phone call home, followed up by a conference will be required with students if this action does not seem to improve their behaviour. This plan has been discussed in class, but it would be appreciated if you would review these expectations and their consequences with your child.

Through the use of the TRIBES program, our "pulling together" expectations and the daily communication in our Agenda Books - it is hoped that your child and all the children in the class will experience the excellent educational climate that they deserve in order to have a very rewarding, successful and fun year. Please remember to use the Agenda Book to enclose any notes in the front pocket.

Classroom supplies recommended for your child include pencils, erasers, scissors, pencil crayons, washable thin markers, a ruler marked in centimetres, bondfast glue and a glue stick and a container for their supplies. Pencils and glue will be an ongoing necessity, however the other supplies should last for the year.

Each student is also required to have a pair of shoes to wear for indoors. They are not allowed to wear their outdoor shoes in the school. Ideally, these could be their runners for Phys Ed.

Please ensure that all items your child brings to school are identified with his or her name, this includes all articles of clothing as well as eating utensils. Also, please be sure that your son or daughter brings nothing of value to school. Students are NOT to bring their TOYS into the classroom where they may be a distraction for themselves and for others.
